2020 Primary Election Extension FAQs

The Ohio General Assembly has approved a plan that allows all Ohioans to continue voting by mail until April 28 - or you can DROP OFF your absentee request and you ballot at the box outside the BOE. Read the FAQs below for more help. Don’t lose your voice!
Q: If I already voted by mail or in person at the Board of Elections, will my vote be counted?
A: Yes, if you already cast a ballot in person or by mail, it will be counted. Voting has been extended for those who did not have the opportunity to vote when polling locations were closed for in-person voting on March 17.
Q: What’s the deadline to register to vote?
A: Voter registration has not been extended. The deadline to register to vote and/or update your voting address for the Ohio Primary 2020 election was 9pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
Q: How can I check if I am already registered of if someone I know is?
A: You can confirm voter registration status online.
Q: How do I vote by mail?
A: Any registered Warren or Butler County voter who has not already cast a ballot in the Primary Election can request an application to vote by mail by calling the Warren County Board of Elections at 513-695-1358 or the Butler County Board of Elections at 513-887-3700, depending on your address. Voters can also vote by mail by downloading, filling out, printing, signing, and mailing their application to their county Board of Elections. Q: What’s the deadline to request my vote-by-mail ballot?
A: Applications for vote-by-mail ballots are being accepted now, and the Board of Elections must receive them by April 25.
Q: What is the deadline to return my completed ballot?
A: Your completed ballot must be post-marked by Monday, April 27, and received by your Board of Elections no later than May 8. When you receive your ballot by mail from the Board of Elections, it will include prepaid return postage. Your completed ballot also can be delivered to the Warren County Board of Elections (520 Justice Drive, Lebanon, OH 45036) or the Butler County Board of Elections (1802 Princeton Road, Suite 600, Hamilton, OH 45011) and placed in the available receptacle located outside the office no later than 7:30pm on April 28.
Q: Can I still vote in person?
A: For almost everyone, the answer is No. In-person voting is limited to a few exceptions: those with visual impairment, some other specified disability, and those unable to receive mail at the place where they reside. Eligible voters will be permitted to vote in person on April 28 (until 7:30pm) at the Warren County Board of Elections, 520 Justice Drive, Lebanon, OH 45036, or Butler County Board of Elections, 1802 Princeton Road, Suite 600, Hamilton, OH 45011.
